2026 Awards Finalists – SPMT | SPT

FINALIST: Allelys

Allelys dismantled the Crawshaw Woods Bridge near Leeds in the UK, the world’s oldest in-situ cast iron railway bridge. The entire historic structure was carefully dismantled to preserve its heritage while enabling rail upgrades. A set of SPMTs equipped with ingenious support constructions was deployed directly onto the track via an engineered roadway. This avoided suspended loads and reduced wind sensitivity, thereby improving safety and control.

FINALIST: Fagioli

In October 2025, Fagioli transported two massive ship blocks for the SAMA vessel –  a fore block weighing 4,662 tonnes and an aft block weighing 5,825 tonnes, from Porto Nogaro, Italy, to Rijeka, Croatia. Using SPMTs and the barge Arcalupa, the blocks were loaded, shipped, offloaded, and precisely aligned, enabling safe, on-schedule final assembly through coordinated marine transport and planning.

FINALIST: Sarens

Sarens transported and installed the new Krommewalbrug, replacing an ageing bridge in the historic city centre of Ghent, Belgium. Two oversized steel sections (48 t and 40 t) were moved through dense urban infrastructure using SPMTs. Careful planning and coordination with authorities ensured safety, minimal disruption, and smooth execution in a highly constrained urban environment.

FINALIST: Wagenborg Nedlift

For a new lock complex in Brunsbüttel, Germany, Wagenborg transported three new lock gates, each weighing 2,500 tonnes and measuring 48 meters in length, 9.5 meters in width, and 24 meters in height. This involved SPMT transport with 136 axle lines out of the fabrication hall, followed by a challenging ro-ro operation onto a barge.
