2026 Awards Finalists – Abnormal Transport > 120 t

FINALIST: Collett & Sons

Over a period of six months, Collett & Sons transported nine 312-tonne HVDC transformers from Stafford to Ellesmere Port in the UK, managing complex abnormal load operations under strict police and permit constraints. Safe and efficient delivery of this major infrastructure project was enabled by detailed route surveys, stakeholder coordination, and a new 350Te girder frame trailer with modular axles.

FINALIST: DB-PRO

DB-PRO carried out one of Poland’s heaviest long-distance transport projects, moving turbine and generator components with a weight of 300 tonnes each, 235 km from Opole to the Adamów power plant in Turek. The project involved the unique deployment of a 21-metre temporary flyover bridge six times per transport to bypass weak bridges, supported by extensive route engineering, night operations and specialised modular transport equipment.

FINALIST: MTD SKuratowicz sp z o.o.

The MTD Skuratowicz team transported more than 30 heavy and oversized components for the Rybnik CCGT power plant, including a 388-ton gas turbine. The project required nine months of preparation for a 50-km route, involving bridge strengthening, temporary flyover systems, road and port upgrades, and precise axle load management under challenging terrain and weather conditions.

FINALIST: Wagenborg Nedlift

Wagenborg successfully transported six transformers, each weighing approximately 312 tonnes, to the new TenneT substation in Ter Apelkanaal, the Netherlands, through a combination of intensive engineering and preparation, while paying careful attention to people and the local environment. The result was an excellent execution to the satisfaction of all involved.
