Following the highly successful ESTA Awards of Excellence event in April, the European heavy transport and lifting industry is now looking forward to another significant event: ESTA’s 50th Anniversary celebrations.
This milestone anniversary marks five decades of European cooperation, innovation, and industry representation, and is one of the most significant moments in ESTA’s history.
Our 1976 beginnings
Since its establishment in 1976 by six national associations, ESTA Europe has grown to become the leading European association for the heavy transport and lifting sector, uniting associations and companies from 27 countries.
Over the past 50 years, ESTA has played a vital role in improving safety, promoting harmonisation, and strengthening cooperation across the industry. To celebrate this milestone, ESTA is organising a series of special initiatives and events throughout 2026, which will bring together members, partners, and industry leaders from across Europe.
50th Anniversary Conference
A key highlight will be the ESTA 50^(th) Anniversary Conference, which will take place on Friday, 23 October 2026 at the Hotel Okura Amsterdam. This conference will focus on the future of the heavy transport and lifting industry and will feature sessions on key topics such as safety, regulation, innovation, technology and sustainability. Designed for all decision-makers and industry professionals, the event will provide valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities that will shape the sector in the decades to come.
50th Anniversary Celebration Event
The celebrations will continue with the ESTA 50^(th) Anniversary Celebration Event, a festive evening dedicated to honouring five decades of collaboration and achievement within ESTA and the European heavy transport and lifting community. The event will provide ample networking opportunities and celebrate the people, organisations and initiatives that have helped to shape the industry.
50 th Anniversary Commemorative Book
Another element of the anniversary programme is the publication of ESTA’s 50^(th) Anniversary Commemorative Book. This special publication documents the industry’s history and development over the past five decades, highlighting the significant developments and individuals who have contributed to our success. The book aims to be a lasting tribute to the evolution and growing importance of ESTA and Europe’s heavy transport and lifting industry.
