WINNER: Allelys

After several months of engineering, planning and preparation, Allelys completed a unique beach landing operation and subsequent challenging road transport of a 155 tonne transformer from Traeth y Graig Ddu (Black Rock Sands beach), Morfa Bychan in North West Wales to the National Grid substation at Trawsfynydd.


FINALIST: BMS A/S

BMS was contracted to install two new pressure chambers weighing 56 and 72 tonnes respectively on the basement level of the Danish National Hospital in Copenhagen. The solution for the job was a combination of lifting, skidding and rigging using a 300 tonne mobile crane, 80 metre skid tracks, support towers and 1000 tonne hydraulic towers.


FINALIST: Huisman Equipment BV

Huisman used an ingenious combination of different ultra-heavy lift techniques to install the 1,600 mt capacity Leg Encircling Crane on the offshore vessel Sea Installer in the port of Rotterdam. The giant LEC had a weight of 1,750mt SWL, a length of 170m and had to be installed with millimetre accuracy.


FINALIST: Wagenborg Nedlift BV

To replace the old Violette Bridge with a new modern bridge in Duisburg, Germany, Wagenborg Nedlift used an inventive mix of horizontal and vertical displacement techniques on land and water.
